Costa Rica

Landing in Liberia, our first excursion was to the Pacific coast to ‘surprise visit’ Canadian friends who resided in this part of the world. Our eco-lodging in Nicoya was uh…eeko. I’ll leave it at that.

LA FORTUNA

The town itself had more tourists than residents! Is no wonder with vast natural attractions.

Enough mountains! We headed south for the beaches. Driving the Pan American highway was surprisingly a non-event, other than that of tedious traffic sometimes slowed to crawl-speed. Every type of vehicle, national or international depend on this road comprised of only 1 lane in each direction!

HERMOSA BEACH

Perfect (hot) weather and perfect surf, it is near the popular and more crowded Jaco Beach.

SAN RAMON

The long, winding, mountainous road in searing heat was a tense drive as Bill was suffering with heat stroke from our last day in Hermosa Beach. It had been spent watching a surfing competition—the tropical sun and heat were overwhelming even with precautions taken. A few days were taken to recuperate in San Ramon at an amazing family run hotel.
