SANTA ELENA area

The ‘hood we stayed in between Salinas and La Libertad—an eclectic mix of modern condos, old houses, new construction, halted construction, fortified beach dwellings, and very dry boat storage!

All roads were sand except for some pavement at our apartment complex. With no amenities nearby, having a rental car was nice but we opted to return it to Guayaquil. Taxi’s are not expensive but we preferred to walk for the exercise—some of which was in defense of numerous roaming dogs. Away from the beach community and across the main road, Bill was chased by an ill-tempered large pig while walking past it’s free-range territory!
